Writer's Guide to Tik Tok

Hello friends and fellow writers!

I’m just a regular ‘ol writer doing my best to get my published novel-and my future books out into the world. My hard work is paying off! I can now say I’m a best-selling and an award-winning-author!

When I was writing my debut novel, Eve’s Covering, Facebook was it for me as far as social media was concerned. And I shared nothing about it until a couple of months before my book was scheduled to launch.

Although I had over 1,000 followers on Facebook, I suddenly realized that I needed to broaden my reach. In other words, I needed to find more readers who might buy and read my book. So, at the encouragement of my daughter, I jumped on Instagram. I must admit it was a rush launching my book out onto another platform. I enjoyed learning how to make reels, which seemed to really engage my audience.

But I couldn’t find the Young Adult crowd I longed to introduce my book to. Again, my daughter suggested I take my book to where my readers hang out… That’s how I landed on TikTok and the rest is history. Of course, I’m still on Facebook and Instagram. But I’ve broadened my scope with TikTok – and am selling more books. Isn’t that the goal?

All things considered; I really enjoy TikTok. Don’t get me wrong. It has its frustrations, just like any other platform, but I get to connect with fellow authors and readers on a more intimate level than I had before. With videos, you can step into my office or living room and I can share all about my experiences that inspired my book. I can tell you personally how I escaped a cult when I was 19 years old.

I’m not guaranteeing you will gain monetary success or viral videos by following the steps I’ve provided in this guide. But I do suspect you will gain some followers and sell a few more books-or whatever else you want to market. And I’m pretty sure you’ll have fun doing it.

So, what’s keeping you from jumping on TikTok? Take the leap and discover it for yourself.

Best,

Elsie McKenney

BLOG: A Cult Exposed

My Story. My Hope.

Eve’s Covering is a work from my wounded heart. In the process of writing, however, it healed, allowing me to share my story with you. People warned me to keep my story a secret…as if I should be ashamed of it. But I can’t do that. I’ve worked through the shame, and now I’m sharing my story to help others find the courage to face adversity. God rescuing a child out of the darkness of a cult is a miraculous thing! You see, it was God who protected me in the midst of the fire, walking with me through it, bringing me out on the other side.
